Embryo Glue
Embryo glue, also known as Embryo Transfer Medium or Embryo Transfer Solution, is a specialised culture medium used during in vitro fertilization (IVF) procedures to improve the chances of successful embryo implantation. It is not a glue in the traditional sense but rather a medium that aims to enhance the interaction between the embryo and the uterus lining.
What is Embryo Glue Made Of?
Embryo Glue contains high concentration of Hyaluronan which is produced naturally in the female womb, fallopian tubes, and ovaries and low concentration of recombinant human albumin. These components are believed to mimic the natural conditions in the uterus, providing a favourable environment for embryo implantation.
The use of embryo glue is intended to promote embryo attachment to the uterine lining by increasing the adhesive properties between the embryo and the endometrium. It is typically used during the embryo transfer process, where the selected embryos are placed into the uterus through a catheter.
Does Embryo Glue Make a Difference?
Embryo glue which may provide support to the process of implantation – by making the embryo more likely to stick to the lining of the womb, thus reducing the movement of the embryo around the uterus.
By using embryo glue, it is thought that the likelihood of successful implantation may be improved, potentially leading to higher pregnancy rates.
